A licensed Missouri attorney from Voorhees Family Law helps you through the legal steps. Here’s what to expect.
01
Let’s talk
Answer a few questions, complete our intake form, and schedule a conversation with our team. We’ll talk about the name you want to use and whether our adult name-change service is a fit.
You’ll have a chance to ask questions and understand the process before representation begins.
02
We’ll prepare the paperwork
Once representation and payment arrangements are in place, your Missouri attorney prepares the court documents. We help you review the details and coordinate signatures.
Remote video notarization is included at no additional charge. Use a compatible cell phone, without a separate notary trip. Our team confirms the identification, technology, and location requirements.
03
We’ll handle the court process
We file your case in the appropriate City or County court and coordinate with the assigned division. Your attorney explains what comes next and prepares you for any required hearing.
Depending on the judge and your circumstances, a sworn affidavit may be possible instead of an in-person appearance. We check that option and review the judgment if approved.
04
Make it yours
After judgment, we arrange required newspaper publication and file proof with the court. The publication cost is included in our fee. Your attorney also considers whether a publication exception applies.
Next come your record updates, including Social Security, your Missouri driver license or state ID, banks, and employer records. You handle those separately. Our guide walks through the main updates and links to official resources.
